We’re all aware how difficult things are these days with Council budgets being continually squeezed, and we’re at a crucial stage right now where our ‘soft’ services like sports and leisure facilities are closing down, and Community Centres are another vulnerable target. Nobody wants to see them close, but we need to act on this now otherwise we may lose Community Centres like Crofthead leaving a big hole in essential community services and voluntary groups.

We have set up a Steering Group to look at the feasibility of taking Crofthead Farm into community ownership. Part of that process would involve setting up a new charity with the relevant legal powers to acquire and manage Crofthead for the benefit of our local community.

We need to get a significant group of members who can contribute their ideas, experience or time to help turn Crofthead into a local hub run by the community, for the community. We think it is a vital part of the fibre of our community and we need to be proactive in making sure it has a strong and bright future to continue helping everyone in our community.
